Consolidating treasury operations across borders

During the review period, Citi upgraded the infrastructure supporting payments, liquidity and collections in its African markets, according to Euromoney. The bank also helped companies bring together cash management operations spread across multiple African jurisdictions.

Euromoney illustrated that work with a project for a major international brewer. In a treasury overhaul carried out in phases, Citi connected the company's ERP systems to Swift and automated payments and reconciliation to cut costs, reduce the number of banking relationships and improve visibility into cash.

The awards process and research

Submissions for the 2026 awards opened April 28 and closed July 3. The London awards ceremony took place November 4, a day before publication of the results. Euromoney says its selection process combines analysis of data, comparisons with peers and direct discussions with market participants.

Client feedback underpinning Euromoney's transaction banking research came from its 2026 Financial Institutions Survey, conducted from January 26 through April 5. More than 2,000 institutions participated; among them were 647 banks that completed the payments pathway, the liquidity management pathway or both.

The survey results informed rankings of 13 banking providers at the global level and across six regions.
