Crews extinguish fire in dispatch yard

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said it sent multiple crews to the headquarters on Hollington Road following a report of a heavy goods vehicle burning in a dispatch yard. The large fire involved both the truck's cab and its trailer.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two main jets to put out the flames and worked to protect nearby equipment. The fire service said the cause was believed to be accidental.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an ambulance to the site. Paramedics treated the male driver at the scene for suspected smoke inhalation before taking him to the hospital.

Rocester headquarters slated for manufacturing investment

The site has served as JCB's home since 1950, when founder Joseph Cyril Bamford relocated production to a former cheese factory there, according to JCB and The Manufacturer.

In October 2025, JCB announced plans to invest £100 million in manufacturing facilities at its Rocester headquarters. The project includes a fully automated powder paint plant costing £60 million and modernization of the entire shop floor. JCB said the investment would help secure the future of more than 8,000 jobs in the UK.
